Exformera mera

Bild

TED Mindful Puddicombe

" All it takes is 10 mindful minutes " from TED about Mindfulness by Andy Puddicombe . Who is this guy? Andy Puddicombe wants you to take a break -- not just from work, but from your own mind, which is so full of anxieties about the world and anxieties about its own anxieties. To help you do that, Puddicombe, a former Buddhist monk, co-founded Headspace , a project to make meditation more accessible to more people in their everyday lives. Puddicombe also writes prolifically for the Huffington Post and the Guardian , on the benefits of mindful thinking for healthy living. What does he say: ” Most people assume that meditation is all about stopping thoughts, getting rid of emotions, somehow controlling the mind. But actually it's … about stepping back, seeing the thought clearly, witnessing it coming and going .” Why not hear his TED talk here - " on average our minds are lost in thoughts almost 47% of the time " familiarize yourself with the presen

Sharpen the saw, self-renewal

Bild
I have earlier written two summary blog posts about "The seven habits of highly effective people" written by Stephen R. Covey . The first was about the private victory and the second about the public victory . Now it is time to summarize habit 7; Sharpen the saw - principles of balanced self-renewal ". Habit 7 is about preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have - you. It´s renewing the four dimensions of your nature - physical, spiritual, mental, and social/emotional, by exercising regularly and consistently in wise and balanced ways. The physical dimension involves caring effectively for our physical body - eating the right kinds of foods, getting sufficient rest and relaxation, and exercising on a regular basis. A good exercise program is one that you can do in your own home and that will build your body in three areas: endurance (the ability of your heart to pump blood through your body - exercised through e.g rapid walking, running, biking, swimmin

Management is (Still) Not Leadership...

Bild
...says John Kotter in his HBR blog post from today. He writes that he was a few weeks ago once again reminded about the massive confusion around the two terms leadership and management. He states that the mistakes people make around this issue are threefolded; people use the terms "management" and "leadership" interchangeably, people use the term "leadership" to refer to the people at the very top of hierarchies and people often think of "leadership" in terms of personality characteristics. He explains the difference: " Management is a set of well-known processes, like planning, budgeting, structuring jobs, staffing jobs, measuring performance and problem-solving, which help an organization to predictably do what it knows how to do well. Management helps you to produce products and services as you have promised, of consistent quality, on budget, day after day, week after week. Leadership is entirely different. It is associated wit

NLP´s grundantagande - prioriterade!

Bild
