Love, Science, and Spirituality: Reflections from a Morning Run

A Morning of Meditation and Music

This morning, I had a special experience. Since April, I’ve almost always begun my day with a 45-minute Joe Dispenza meditation called Blessing the Energy Centers (Chakras).

During the Heart Center part, I focus on Love—Love across dimensions, Love for myself, Love I give to others, and Love I receive from others.

As I sank into this meditation, a song I’ve been listening to a lot lately came to mind: What a Wonderful World. One line especially stood out:

I see friends shaking hands, saying how do you do.
They’re really saying, I love you

Running with Love in My Heart

After my meditation, I went for a 40-minute run through the nearby green areas. Those lyrics echoed in my mind.

In Sweden, when we pass people out walking—often with their dogs—we sometimes exchange a brief Hej (Hi). Today, I felt inspired to greet everyone I met with a smile, carrying genuine Love in my heart, and a sense of gratitude for sharing this moment of life together.

That’s when I realized: I can only take responsibility for the Love I give.
And if someone responds, I can receive it back—whether their “Hi” is filled with warmth or not.

Love as the Essence of Life

Right now, my truth is this: Love is the essence of Life.

Of course, this isn’t a new idea. Many spiritual teachers have said it for centuries. But I’m on a personal journey, exploring the overlap between Science and Spirituality, while also reflecting on life’s big questions: consciousness, happiness, and well-being.

The Meaning of Life Is Personal

One insight I keep coming back to is that the meaning of life isn’t universal. Every individual creates meaning through their consciousness and belief system.

There is no single “objective truth” about how to live. Each of us is doing our best with the tools we have—seeking joy, purpose, and fulfillment in our own way.

Where Science and Spirituality Meet

So how do Science and Spirituality fit together?

Here are a few truths that stand out to me:

  • Science doesn’t explain everything. Our consciousness, mind, body, and universe still hold mysteries.

  • Spirituality gives many people meaning. Religion or personal spiritual practices can be powerful sources of joy.

  • The placebo effect is real. Belief alone can create measurable changes, even if science doesn’t fully understand why.

Connecting these truths leads me to this:

➡️ Use science for what is already discovered and explained.
➡️ Use your personal spirituality where science hasn’t yet reached—knowing belief itself can bring real benefits.
➡️ Don’t waste energy judging others’ spiritual practices. Even if they seem unusual, they might work for them in ways we can’t yet measure.

Beyond Right and Wrong

Another realization: endless debates about who is “right” or “wrong” often miss the point. Most questions have many dimensions, and answers depend on personal experiences, beliefs, and one’s sense of meaning.

A Path Forward

So, when you’re faced with the choice between Science or Spirituality as your guiding path, my advice is simple:

Don’t choose. Be open to both.

A Closing Reflection

As I think back on my meditation and morning run, I realize how simple moments—like saying Hi to a stranger—can open doors to deeper connection. Love doesn’t always appear in grand gestures; often, it’s hidden in the smallest exchanges of presence, kindness, and gratitude.

Science may guide us with knowledge, and spirituality may guide us with meaning, but together they remind us of one essential truth: we are all connected.

So next time you step outside, try a small experiment: greet the people you meet with a smile and with Love in your heart. Notice what shifts within you. Notice what shifts around you.

Perhaps, like me, you’ll discover that the path between science and spirituality isn’t a line you need to choose between—it’s a bridge you’re already walking.

Love is the essence. The rest is exploration.
