Principer för ett vuxet beteende...

Bild
No matter what. Never assume the motives of others are, to them, less noble than yours are to you. Don’t trouble yourself with matters you truly cannot change. Laugh at yourself frequently. Never forget that, no matter how certain , you might be wrong . Learn the needs of those around you and respect them. Avoid the pursuit of happiness. Seek to define your mission and pursue that . Understand humility. Forgive. Live memorably . Love yourself. Hur du hjälper ditt barn att lyckas i livet!

Bild
Jag kom i kontakt med Carol Dweck för ett antal år sedan. Hon har forskat kring hur man som förälder kan hjälpa sitt barn att uppnå sin fulla potential - helt enkelt att lyckas i livet (" How to help every child fulfil their potential ").

Summering av hans TED Talk "How to build a company where the best ideas win": In order to be an effective investor ,  one has to bet against the consensus and be right . In order to be a successful entrepreneur , one has to bet against the consensus and be right . What would I do differently in the future so I wouldn´t make that painful mistake? What an arrogant jerk! I was so arrogant, and I was so wrong! How do I know I´m right? I wanted to have an idea meritocracy in which the best ideas would win out. I realized that

Emotional First Aid

Bild
Det är dags att börja ta hand om vår emotionella hälsa på samma sätt som vi sedan länge har tagit hand om vår fysiska kropp. Se nedan TED -talk av Guy Winch och läs min exformativa summering, så fattar du varför! We'll go to the doctor when we feel flu-ish or a nagging pain. So why don’t we see a health professional when we feel emotional pain: guilt, loss, loneliness? Too many of us deal with common psychological-health issues on our own, says Guy Winch. But we don’t have to. He makes a compelling case to practice emotional hygiene — taking care of our emotions, our minds, with the same diligence we take care of our bodies. How is it that we spend more time taking care of our teeth   than we do our minds.   Why is it that our physical health is so much more important to us   than our psychological health? We sustain psychological injuries even more often than we do physical ones,   injuries like failure or rejection or loneliness. In fact, scientists have conc

We´re All in Sales Now - Dan Pink

Bild
A small part of the book "To Sell Is Human" by Dan Pink is now animated by RSA Shorts (see below). See my earlier blog post about this book here . (Picture from sachachua.com) The summary: We´re All in Sales Now The foundational qualities of being effective in  persuading, influencing, convincing, moving people: Attunement - understand their perspective Can I understand someone else´s point of view? Buoyancy - interrogative self-talk Can I remain resilient and buoyant in the face of rejection? Clarity - curate all the information Can I help someone make their way through this murk of information… and clarify it? And: The quality of the problem that is found is the forerunner of the solution attained. Problem Finders : experiment, switch direction and take longer time to complete their work Establish "common ground" The way to do it more effectively is to just Be a Little Bit More Human Here comes the "video

The big history of our world - from TED

Bild
From TED , I found this astonishing talk by David Christian (picture from global patriot.com): I n big history, you define a number of threshold moments, each of them creating slightly more complex things. Each stage is magical because it creates the impression of something utterly new appearing almost out of nowhere in the universe. These are the threshold stages , from a big history perspective : The Big Bang The Big Bang happens 13,7 billion (miljarder) years ago . The universe is tiny; it´s smaller than an atom. It contains everything that´s in today´s universe . The stars light up In the beginning there were only Hydrogen (H) and Helium (He). Eventually gravity started to build clouds of hydrogen and helium atoms. When the center of the clouds due to increased gravity crossed the threshold temperature of 10 million degrees, protons start to fuse, there´s a huge increase of energy. Bam - we have our first stars . This was about 200 million years after the Big Bang .

Our effective brain!

Thanks TED-Ed, now we know: Two thirds of the population believes a myth that has been propagated for over a century: that we use only 10% of our brains. Hardly! Our neuron-dense brains have evolved to use the least amount of energy while carrying the most information possible -- a feat that requires the entire brain. Richard E. Cytowic debunks this neurological myth (and explains why we aren't so good at multitasking) Enjoy, digest and reflect, via YouTube :

the Secrets of body language

A very very very interesting program from History channel - "Secrets of body language". You all know that communication is about our words only to a degree of 7% - the rest is body language . You know: our facial expressions, the way we speak, the way we move… This program shows well known people in various "interesting" situations; George W Bush doing an "upper-hand handshake", Barack Obama using his hypnotic rhythm "as a baptist preacher", Bill Clinton explaining his "Lewinsky-affair", Angelina Jolie trying to hide she´s in love, Marion Jones trying to explain she is innocent of taking performance enhancing drugs… Remember! When there is a mismatch between the words and the body language - always trust the body language .

Make stress your friend - McGonigal on TED

Bild
I looked into a TED talk during lunch today. Kelly McGonigal talked about "how to make stress your friend". I have to confess - it is one of the better TED talks I have seen the past years. See the talk down below... first my exformative summary : Do you believe that stress is harmful for your health? If you don´t believe it´s harmful - it isn´t! 996 - 7 ... when you learn to think in a new way about stress, " this is my body helping me rise to this challenge ", you create a much healthier stress response  - biologically similar to "joy and courage" Stress makes you social Oxytocin -" the cuddle hormone", is also a neuro-hormone that fine-tunes your brain´s social instincts and enhances your empathy AND it is a stress hormone. Oxytocin also protects your cardiovascular system from the effects of stress, by healing and strengthening your heart The stress resilience mechanism is human connection When you choose t

Robin Sharma - Victim versus Leader

Bild
Robin Sharma has done it again. An interesting list of leadership thoughts to digest. Amazing. Below from his blog ( read his full blog post here ). If you like the idea of the people you work with becoming leaders within their roles (and the CEO of their job responsibilities), then please study, debate and share the following “ 19 Victim Versus Leader Distinctions “: #1 . Victims talk about people. Leaders talk about ideas . #2 . Victims procrastinate around their goals. Leaders execute on them. #3 . Victims enjoy watching things (like TV and video games). Leaders like making things . #4 . Victims are distracted. Leaders are concentrated . #5 . Victims abhor change. Leaders Adore change . #6 . Victims read what everyone reads. Leaders read what few do. #7 . Victims associate with other victims. Leaders spend most of their time with superstars (and thereby dramatically elevate their productivity and success). #8 . Victims are stuck in the past. Leaders are inspir

Why Givers (often) succeed by Adam Grant

Bild
My Favorite author Dan Pink has written a blog post about " Why Givers (often) succeed ". It refers to a book by  Adam Grant  called " Give and Take " . Grant defines three factors that are needed in order to succeed; T alent, E ffort/Persistence/Drive and a person´s " R eciprocity style".   Research shows that  Givers  are the  least successful  in a workplace and also the  most successful. From the blog: In our professional lives, he says, we tend to be either givers, takers, or matchers. Most of us are  matchers . We’re willing to give — to help others — but we expect something in return. Matchers live in the world of reciprocity, tit-for-tat, and Even Steven. A few of us, meanwhile, are  takers . Our style is to get more than we give. (Spoiler alert: Research shows that we hate takers and root for them to fail.) And a few of us are  givers . We give more than we get — with no expectation of return . See the talk Adam gave at Google about "

The new ABC in sales by Dan Pink

Bild
Yesterday I finished the book " To Sell is Human - The surprising truth about persuading, convincing, and influencing others" by Daniel H. Pink - one of my favorite authors. Dan writes specifically about the new ABC in sales - A ttunement, B uoyancy and C larity (see word cloud from his book showing adjectives/interjections people offered most frequently when prompted to think of sales/selling). Related to Attunement, Dan states that new research clearly shows that extroverts are not the best sales persons - it´s the ambiverts. Dan has an easy assessment tool to measure introversion and extraversion that can be found at his web site . When I took the test, I got below statements as feedback: You're an  ambivert . That means you're neither strongly introverted nor strongly extraverted. Recent research by Adam Grant of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Management has found that ambiverts make the best salespeople. Ambiverts tend to be ad
